    328i Won’t accelerate past 40mph has a loud rattling noise and barely starts

    Bmw 328i has a loud rattling noise, won’t go more than 40 and hesitant to start.

    M20 engine in a 2014 car? M20 engine = production 1977–1993, please check again. I assume it is N20. I will move it to the correct subforum, Forum: 2012+ (F30, F32, F33, F34, F36)

    ok guys here is rundown of events. Car had typical n20 timing chain noise. We ordered all special tools, new timing chain, guide and tensioner assy. I installed all components only to find out I was slightly off time. Car ran and drove but developed long crank and check engine light. I tore back down and reset timing and cleared light. Car ran and drove for 2 weeks when after a u turn and on acceleration to get into traffic it lost power and top speed is 40 mph. No load bangs or any thing heard. Car is running rough and lower power. Thinking it slipped time i again tore down only to find all timing perfect and all tools dropped right into place. I checked all turbo tubes for air leaks, turbo spins fine with no shaft play. Removed all spark plugs and checked to make sure all pistons coming to tdc. no damage to any spark plugs. Today I remove vanos sprockets and bolts. I see no damage or unusual marks on sprockets and plungers on bolts move freely. Timing chain tensioner had oil in it and also moves with pressure applied. I have inspected both cam shafts for damage and all look good and all rockers are in place. I am familure with the Ford vgt system and know it can cause issues like this.Any help will be greatly apprectiated. I am located in Wesley Chapel Fl and if anyone is close I'd glady compensate them for time helping

    Do you have error codes read? Preferably BMW manufacturer ones.
