The brake lining light doesn't seem to light. I replace the bulb but nothing. I assume the light should come on when i turn the key like all the others. Even disconnecting a sensor won't trigger the light. Thoughts on why there seems to be no power to the light? Most would like the thing to be dead.
maybe the connection on the board where the bulb seats is worn out? I notice the light sockets are starting to wear through on lots of boards I see now
No e30s again.
I removed the cluster to change the bulb. When that didn’t work I pulled the cluster apart to look at the board. It appeared fine. The light contacts were tight against the contacts on the board.
you might have to try tracing the lines with a multi-meter than. maybe something is cracked in the solder joints. its fairly common to have bad joints and you just have to reflow them to fix htem
No e30s again.
I have a schematic in hand. Out comes the dash for an in depth investigation. Will update if I find the fault.
I looked over the diagram. There is a bulb test section of the circuit. When the key is in the acc position there should be power to the bulb to verify they light. Mine never lights. May start there. Any thoughts?

seems like a good plan. you should be able to trace that circuit back to the plug and check continuity from there onwards through the light socket
No e30s again.
Simple question. Does the brake lining light glow steady in the acc key setting? After rooting around in the cluster and not seeing anything obvious I started the car and the light turned on briefly and went out after starting. Making progress.
I don't think so, i think it only comes on for a bit but, i haven't noticed in a while and both cars are down so i can't check
I’m calling this done.
