Anyone familiar with code 87 k-line. It seems it had some water damage by the glove box area, and the alternator charge light it staying on. Also the audio system does not respond. Car sat in storage for 2 years. All was good before it was put away. Changed alternator, but did not put the light out(still charged fine). Any help would be great. Thanks Pete.
Welcome to the forum.
The first thing I'd do is pull up the carpet and foam on the front pass side just in front of the right hand seat rail to inspect the fuse block and connections. Have you checked the fuses above the glovebox?

Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Yes I will do that thanks
I removed all the plastic covers on the fuses so I could test them , found# 15 a 7.5 amp for the ecu blown. I replaced it, seem to have no effect?
So the fuse blew again. I identified the fuse it goes to the alternator regulator. So I unplugged it put another fuse in and still blew. I guess now I have to trace the wire from the fuse box?
The bundle of wires should go from the fuses into the DME box and then thru conduit over to the alternator.
What’s the resistance on the wire connecting to the blowing fuse?
Look up wiring diagrams on newtis.info.

In addition to F15 going to the alternator it also goes to:
The oil level sensor
The data link connector under the hood
The temp switch in the DME box for the fan at the bottom of the box.
The automatic tranny range switch.
Happy hunting, let us know what you find.
Update:
I'd disconnect what you can reach, install a new fuse and see if it blows.
If it doesn't then start plugging in connectors one at a time while checking the fuse each time you plug a connector in.

Update: Thanks guys I found it , it was the oil level sensor! Could not have done it with out you! Thanks again
Thanks for the update.
Oh one more thing , my turn signals work on the car but the cluster indicator does not light up? I tried my buddies cluster, still the same. Could it be the lamp control module or the turn signal stalk? Thanks again.
not the stalk, LCM controls the cluster indicators. as the car was stored for a period of time, and there was a water intrusion near the glovebox (and the LCM is right there) id clean the harness and module pins to it. had a similar issue on my car earlier this year, pins on the 20 year old LCM, cleaned em and its worked fine ever since. cleaned the GM pins at the same time cuz its right there as well.
Thank you , that helps a lot I will look
