The problem: DSC control unit failure and not being able to pass the e-smog in California. Does anyone know if a re-coded used replacement will enable me to pass the e-smog test? TIA...
Maybe this will help clarify. I was told by one BMW guy that when the ABS/DSC unit fails I'd never be able to pass a smog test and he recommended an OEM replacement at about $1700. Then I was told by another BMW guy that he'd never heard that a failure of that unit could be the reason I can't pass the smog check. Conflicting information. Hoping someone who's had a similar issue can chime in.. TIA
So here are the fault codes:
DME -
(132) 84 DSC, CAN time-out
(139) 8B Interruption, cruise control operation
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (KOM) -
(245) F5 No CAN identification (ASC)
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) -
76 Speed sensor, signal interference,
73 Internal fault,
88 Steering angle sensor, CAN
hello everyone,
I have a 2000 328i. my ABS, Traction control and brake light is on. I went to an indy and he pulled codes and he said the DSC module needs to be replaced. the pump is fine, just the electronic module on the pump is bad. I found a used one ebay with the the same part number as mine. My module is setting on the passenger side close the firewall. Here are my questions. does anyone have a write up on how to remove the old unit (just the module and not the pump)? Please let me kno
