    M Parallel Part Numbers

    Hello, I am currently looking into purchasing some M Parallel rims off of Facebook Marketplace, but I am trying to figure out what car the rims originated from. The rims are listed as 18x8 and 18x9.5 and their offset is 13/25. The only problem I am having is the two fronts (I presume these are the fronts due to them having the 13 offset, I don't really know how wheel offset works.) have different part numbers: 36112227631 and 36112229730. Only one of the part numbers on the backs is legible: 36112227633. So, were these all taken from an e31? If anyone can help that would be amazing! Thanks!

    36112227633 is a 18 x 9.5 - rear. I think it could cross ref to e31 or e38. That is what I have on the rear of my e38

    Fronts part #’s are dimensionally the same. Could be differences in finish.. got pics?

    Jman,
    The part numbers you quoted (rear 36112227631 and front 36112229730) are what are fitted to my 740i Sport from new. The same part numbers were fitted to the E31 according to realOEM so if you have different part numbers, they are probably not from either of those two models and will differ in possibly important properties: offset, centre hub diameter, etc.

    Just an FYI...like mentioned above...all mystery would be answered by simply using one of the BMW online part database sites. BMW is known for using multiple part Nbr’s...you may find that the reason there are different part Nbr’s for the wheels with the same specs is that the part number was superseded by a new number.

    Again, by simply using one of the online database sites like www.realoem.com ...you can copy/paste the part Nbr’s you have into the part nbr search field and you’ll see what their specs are and the BMW models that used them...and if they are retrospectively compatible due to being a superseded part number.

    MPar Style 37 Specs (if memory serves me correct):

    • E38: 72.56mm center bore
      • Front - 8”x18” w/13mm offset {36112229730}
      • Rear - 9.5”x18” w/25mm offset {36112229731}

    • E31: 72.56mm center bore
      • Front - 8”x18” w/13mm offset {36112227631 superseded by 36112229730}
      • Rear - 9.5”x18” w/25mm offset {36112227633 superseded by 36112229731}
    • E34: 72.56mm center bore
      • Front - 8”x18” w/20mm offset {36112227931}
      • Rear - 9”x18” w/22mm offset {36112227933}
    • E39: 74.1mm center bore
      • Front - 8”x18” w/20mm offset {36112229635}
      • Rear - 9”x18” w/24mm offset {36112229640}

    Which means you have e39 MPars....which again is no mystery if you input the part number into one of the online part database sites like realoem.com.

    And...

    They will not work on an e38 unless you also install adapter rings on the hubs since the bore is larger on an e39...

    I am not finding information on REALOEM regarding the

    available finishes for the E38 OEM M PARS as listed above -

    Doing a search of the internet I have found posts stating that the

    standard OEM M PARS as listed above are painted silver -

    But I also found posts that stated that the E38 740iL OEM M Sport

    package wheels are polished not painted -

    I am guessing that Q will be the one to answer this question -

    If there is a difference in the available OEM finishes - painted vs. polished

    could someone please post the part number for the polished M Pars -

    Thank-You

    UPDATE -

    POST #28 - The Q look

    This is the look I want - all silver paint removed / sanded off - polished and clear coated -

    Would anyone have a ballpark cost to achieve this -

    Also would the tyres have to be dis-mounted when doing this -

    Thank-You

    From the wheels I’ve seen. All have silver painted spokes. The lip, and surfaces adjacent to the spokes are either close to mirror polished, while the other flavor is more like a brushed metal finish. This does not count the chromed ones.

    Yes on the paint and polish, and then the wheels are painted in clear coat. On one of mine on the DINAN the clear oat is failing. On my parts car the wheels have no clear coat (maybe removed by a PO) and the Aluminum has become dull and needs a polish.

    For the OP, I have an OE set of 5 MPars (with a spare) for sale off my parts car for $500. Like I said, they need polishing. You’d have to pay for shipping though.

    Someone sent m a PM saying that this can't be done and I would be

    better off buying a new set of OEM M Pars -

    I asked for an explanation but have yet to hear back -

    If Q's M Pars have had this done why could my M Pars not

    have all silver paint removed and then polished -

    I love this look -

    DB...ah man...you put the pressure on.

    This topic rings all kind of bells in the old cognitive “lock box”...and I know that it has been discussed a lot in the past. So that made me first think if someone had an old copy of the BMW ETK database...they could find the old part numbers for the “blasted” and “polished” Style 37 MPars. The CPU that I had that application loaded on is long gone. The 2nd thought was the old e38 BimmerBrd forum. And after a quick search...I ran across some old discussions from back in 2005.

    In one thread I found the old 11 digit BMW part number for the blasted MPars which was one part number for a set of staggered MPars. The 11 digit BMW part number for that set was:

    Blasted MPars: 36 11 0 010 493 (which included the 2 part Nbr’s below)
    • 36 11 2 229 730 - 8x18 blasted
    • 36 11 2 229 731 - 9.5x18 blasted

    Then another thread was discussing how the ETK database had changed and the word “blasted” was no longer associated with the 2 part Nbr’s that ended with 730 & 731. And those two part Nbr’s also became the superseded number used on the 99-01 E38s

    Here’s a link to one of those threads on BimBrd from 2005 about the difference between the two MPar part Nbr’s: http://bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/73774

    I found these numbers for the E31 -

    36112227631

    Light alloy rim polished

    8JX18 ET:13

    36112227633

    Light alloy rim polished

    91/2JX18 ET:25

    These part numbers have been superseded by

    the current E38 M Par part numbers :

    36112229730

    FRONT WHEELS 18X8 ET 13

    36112229731

    REAR WHEELS 18X9.5 ET 25

    I had the parts manager at the dealership look

    this information up and he only came up with the

    current E38 part numbers -

    Q thanks for sharing your knowledge -

    Thank-You

    Would you sell those those E39 ones? Looking to put factory wheels back on my E39
