    Help for a newbie

First let me say hello and thank you for to any one that can help me out. Wife's car started fine the other day twice was then parked in the garage. When going to start the following morning it would cran and crank but not turn over. Did manage to getto turn o er for a couple of seconds but it died. We did not hear the fuel pump running. So 1 is there a relay I a missing on this car? 2 is the fuel pump itself and 3 what are the odds of it being the fuel pump control unit. Any and all help would greatly be appreciated. Please remember I am not a car guy so be gentle with your response as so alit will be like a foreign language to me. Just dont wanna get taken for a ride by the dealership. Thanks again for any and all help.

Find a good local independent shop, check for faults and fuel pressure

Call the shop you use for the BMW, and maybe:

    1. He may know a local shop to use.

    2. Ask him for some quick troubleshooting tips.

    3. Buy a can of starting fluid, charge up battery, and see if car will start and run for a few seconds.

We tried the starting fluid and were finally able to get ti turn over for a brief second then she died. So that is leading me to a fuel pump and or a relay. If there is a relay where would it be. Some forum posts say there is one and some say that there isn't.
