I've had this Service Engine Soon issue for the last while and my mechanic is going logically through what is the likely culprit, (Gas Cap, Leak Detection Pump, Purge Valve, etc.), but, the error keeps coming back. Thinking it could be the wiring to the pump...
Anyone ever have this going on?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

What error codes / sounds like a vacuum leak. A smoke test is next.
I dont have exact codes, (I don't have a sophisticated BMW scan tool per se - it's a iCarsoft), and the only code I get is that descriptive "Function, leakage diagnosis pump".

Could it be frayed wires in the driver's side wheel well? Sadly this post no longer has images due to photobucket unless you have a work around.

Do you have a Service Engine Light? I have a cheap scanner too, but I get P codes from it, and that is needed for next steps of diagnosis
Just realized my initial post was garbage. lol. Edit.
See if you can scan the car using INPA or DIS. Life will be much easier.

Amazon Ancel 310 - $35 bucks - should work for you.
Thanks guys. My mechanic is an Indy and can get the Pcodes, but, I gotta pay him each scan...

So, buy your own. Makes your life easier
Sounds to me like the DMTL pump itself. Has it been replaced yet?

Got my Ancel 410 the other day. Came back with P0452. Again, DMTL pump is new...
