After 30K miles of absolutely trouble free joy I pulled up next to a building and noticed a whine, coming from the rear. Fuel tank, hmmm. She's bitching about something....
The next day same scenario, only much raspier and louder. Usually whisper quiet, the pump is asking for help. So to the bed with you, a new pump, filter with pressure regulator and you will be happy again.
It will also be a good time to install the fuel pressure gauge setup I have had sitting on the bench for over a year....
So I pulled the cover for the filter, a noticed right away the vacuum line for the regulator has split right at the nipple. Replaced the filter and hoses, pump is now quiet, good pressure and reacts correctly with vacuum signal. I now have a spare fuel pump to add to the gear.
Three days later on keying on, flashing lights and no start. Battery showed 9.6 volts on the meter. Sudden death. It had been a good one, installed May of '13. New battery, unlocked the OBC, all is well in Sled land again.
