I hope they don't cancel it due to the damn virus, but it seems like they will be pressured to do it. This panic is ridiculous.

Well McLaren has already withdrawn due to a team member testing positive, plus 3 from Haas which are awaiting test results....

Haas staff were cleared. They should just provide facemasks and sanitizer for free to all fans to assure them. These draconian measures dont seem to be helping contain the virus, if you die, you die.

Nothing on the official F1 site yet.

Autosport says GP organisers are pushing on with F1 plans. Mclaren will look like fools after the race.

Now it seems like some teams have not shown up at the paddock. WTF is wrong with these clowns. You already flew down there, fulfill your damn obligations.

Reports are that some drivers have flown home, these journalists keep contradicting each other, each trying to be first with teh fake news. Liberty should not give in to public pressure, the whole season is under threat

Looks like Seb and Kimi left, and so far no Mercedes F1, no Ferrari, and no Renault showed up to the track yet, McLaren already left..

Championship might start on Baku then if coronavirus doesn't keep growing. I heard it was a colder climate virus....

Wifey and I have tickets for Monaco..appears that may be the start of the season... From F1 site "F1 and the FIA expect to begin the Championship in Europe at the end of May but given the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in Europe in recent days, this will be regularly reviewed"

The season is likely over. 8 races minimum are required for a championship. I dont see any government allowing mass gatherings for a while.

    I suspect you're correct

Oh well, looked like Ferrari was either sandbagging (unlikely), or were about to get stomped by Mercedes again.

So if they announce the season is over, do they compensate the teams at all or just shut everything down (no development, no testing, etc)?

I'm not sure how the teams will be compensated. Liberty get F1 revenue mainly from TV contracts and the circuits paying hosting fees.

The circuits cant pay obviously, and many will close permanently since they need ticket revenue to run the circuit, not just F1, other racing series. Sponsors and broadcast networks are unlikely to pay anything. I fear a few F1 teams will collapse.

They already had a meeting on postponing the new 2021 regulations. This damn virus sucks

Definitely sucks, I hope we don't lose Williams/Alfa (who I read was possibly considering pulling out anyway?), or anyone really.

Circuits have paid to have the races, so if the races get cancelled they get refunded the entry fee. People that bought tickets for races that are cancelled hope they get their money back...

Ferrari has shut down its factory and team for the virus hell they have in Italy. Same with Alpha Tauri, McLaren in UK left the mechanics and team at home, Mercedes too. If the season gets underway later on, there would not be much development time so they may race like that, and go to 2021

Merc F1 engine division is manufacturing breathing apparatus for the damn virus. Mclaren and a few others seem to be doing the same.
    https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14...-covid19-fight

Now the Canadian GP is cancelled/postponed. The corona cases/deaths are decreasing overall, even China had zero deaths(if anyone can believe that) and Wuhan is open for business.

Hopefully all the cancelled races are rescheduled. I think there will be very few fans in attendance though.

I dont believe anything from China, some people say they have had a 2nd spread. Japan just declared state of emergency. We here in NY are having more people infected than in Italy and Spain...

Canada GP has been postponed indefinitely but not canceled. They are not doing refunds until it is rescheduled but the person told me refunds would be given once we get to that point. I can't imagine them being able to reschedule or hold any races until next year. Countries are not going to give the go ahead on large spectator events like that for a long time.
