Hi, I need to verify that these items are "wearable" therefore are not covered by my Platinum BMW warranty.
I asked BMW of Dallas to look over the car for issues that my $5200 Platinum BMW Warranty (purchased from this dealer) would cover before it expires in June.
I was surprised they found $7+k of work on my well-maintained car but not covered by the warranty.
Here is the list, the first two I would have thought were warranty covered. My service advisor said the first two items were "wearable" and thus not covered:
- "Rear Diff bushing cracked" - $1500, replace "rubber mount" part cost $95;
- "Rear driveshaft guibo cracked" - $935, the only part listed is the universal joint, which the warranty explicitly covers.
[For completeness, below are other items that seem to be beyond the warranty but I do wonder if they are all needed. The car has at least 20k of highway driving since I bought it.
- brake fluid, filters, oil, deeply scored front brake rotors, cooling system "cleaning," spark plugs ($617!!!), battery, 4 wheel alignment.]
The documentation provided to me from BMW seemed vague, I feel that I need a high level of confirmation for such expensive repairs that, in my opinion, should be covered by this warranty, which claims "Comprehensive Coverage of the Final Drive Assembly."
Many thanks to you for taking a minute to read this post.

Look at the what's not covered section of the warranty, yes wear items like bushings, coolant hoses, etc. tell them to take apocture and get a second opinion we hardly ever replace guibos or diff mounts the real question is how badly cracked. The dealer service advisor could be on a 100% commission so watch out.
Honestly if I was in your shoes, I would buy another second hand warranty to be safe. The one you have is probably not gonna be suffice for a BMW, and going to cost you in the long run most of the time these warranty company's through dealer or second hand are stubborn on the way they perform business and don't compromise. The parts and labor never match up with sub par warranty company's. Trust me my warranty has saved me thousands, but I have had to argue, wait and half the time parts are not covered. My warranty is about to expire soon, so I will be in the market for better coverage. If anybody knows any good extended warranty's please chime in.
