Strange Clicking Noise

I've been noticing a strange clicking noise when driving on the highway (on passenger side) and when coming to a stop at the light or stop sign. I have a 2011 535i with 101,000 miles. Has anyone experienced this before or might have a clue as to what it could be?

Also, is it normal for a beamer's engine to give off a strong (engine) smell after driving (for about 20 miles) once parked?

Any information would greatly be appreciated!

The clicking may be too general or broad a spectrum to help. I can tell you my bummer doesn’t give off any strong odours regardless how far I go so I’d put that in the abnormal
