SLS Air Springs 525it Sport package.

Will these springs work on a Sport Package car?

Thanks for your response. I think there might be a slight difference in ride height between sport air springs and non sport. "Sport" specific seem to cost more on vendor sites...

IMO they sound far too cheap and will probably crap out in no time at all.

Over here in the UK the ones we all go for and recommend are Arnott and/or Aerosus bags. If you can source them then deffo get them.

Lots of folks have fitted cheap bags and they've failed within weeks as the metal is just too thin and not sealed very well

On my low mileage ///M cars I use nothing but OE parts. My Touring has 180xxx miles and is my daily, so I'm not really too keen on spending big bucks for replacements. I have nothing to lose but time going with Amazon parts link. However surely someone has tried them? Or something similar?

Yes, lots of folk have used cheap SLS bags and as said, they've crapped out in no time at all, more so on the Sport/M Sport E39s...

This is not something to go cheap... But your car and your $$$

So...... On your low mileage M&M cars, you use nothing but factory parts, low mileage, as in you rarely drive them..... Good, glad for you on that one.
But on your daily, you couldn't give a damn, 180,000 miles, your not really keen on spending big bucks for replacements......... nothing to lose but time......

You should go have your head checked.... I'd be making sure I had nothing but the best parts, money be damned, on the cars that I am throwing all the miles on, nothing but time...... nothing but time................. Nothing but time.............................. NOTHING BUT TIME.............................................. ..
Time is your most important commodity!!!!! Screw the money!!!!!

Hahaha I hear ya. I get it, time is money. I just think air springs are something that I can roll the dice on. If they fail. Nothing catastrophic will happen. Just back to sagging. If they work, well savings on parts did me well.

Screw the cheap airbags, they are gonna go in no time, order a set of Eibach springs, enjoy the drive without wondering when the airbags are gonna go.

Nothing bad can happen ? Have one let go while going 80mph on your way to Indy grand prix in heavy traffic, lucky it didn't take a tire with it.
The rear fender will use the tire sidewall as support, smoking like you just did the biggest burnout. Buy the Arnott at least, not that expensive at all.

There has to be someone on here who has experience going the inexpensive Amazon option route??? Anyone want to chime in?

So; everyone that's replied to your post on here inc. myself has said don't go for the cheap shitty bags and have told you to go for the Arnott / Aerosus ones at least; because if they do fail when you're driving it, it'll do some damage at least... Yet you still try and find even more shitty cheap bags that'll probably do the same...!

It may be a shitter of a car to you; but you'll still be driving it and you'll surely not want to risk a bag blowing out when you're driving, probably at speed; or leave you stranded because the bags blown, the back end is on its arse and you've to piss about with recovery and they've to piss about trying to move it etc...

Either buy once and buy right (Arnott or Aerosus) or replace the SLS kit with springs and never worry about them

Either way; but shit/cheap and you'll soon regret it as everyone else has said...

Hell; fire away, it's your car/time/money arse etc

Here’s a good way to think of it. Will the money you save be more than a tow truck ride home? If not, get the better part.

Just so everyone knows, a blown air spring will not render the car undrivable.

I can see how the Amazon Air springs could be garbage given the price and zero reviews/ warranty info. But hell, they could work just fine!

    But.... Seriously. These- https://suncoreindustries.com/produc...-528i-540i-e39

Look pretty legit. Clink the link and check them out. They look spot on close to O.E.

I've been in the BMW game since the 80's. I'm no fool. I'm going to give these a try.

This forum seems pretty dead since I joined 10 years ago (haven't logged on in years prior to this thread) with the lack of input.

Sorry in advance to all the UK guys that chime in, but you all have a seriously different BMW market. I'm not really interested in input from the UK population for many reasons. RHD, Model variants, etc..... No disrespect intended

SURELY, Someone on here has gone the aftermarket route other than Arnott or Aerosus.
It would be nice if they could chime in...

Jeeezuz.... It was a lot livelier until you logged back on. What you don’t get is, people responded and you don’t like what your hearing. Buy those duechebags, spend all that time you don’t care about, swapping them out, getting the car aligned, hopefully they last you more than a couple thousand miles, it’s your money, your time.

Uh, they are airbags - they hold the back of your car up. Left hand drive, right hand drive, does not matter. People from all over the globe said the same thing - don’t waste money on cheap parts.

    This!

But clearly the cockwomble knows more than anyone else, even is with RHD cars (which are the fucking same bar the steering wheels on the right side)...

Anyways, wasting my time on this thread now as the OP is being a consummate knob and will piss around with cheap parts & pay no attention to anyone offering him sensible advice...

Man, who said we were upset? If you’re gonna post on a forum, grow some thicker skin if you have weak feelings, we were laughing...... at you, but it’s all good, no hard feelings. But you do have to look at what you posted, talking about the guys on the other side of the pond, they’re all mostly cool chaps, that love these wonderfully not so perfect cars, I don’t give a crap about the slight headaches they give us, I love them, as do all the freaks on this and all the other forums. Me? I’m always laughing, so don’t feel so bad about me laughing in your general direction, but when you said the Euro side of the forum’s wasn’t cared for, that was messed up, they threw in their 4.5 cents, and it was all legit. There’s a reason those airbags are on Amazon or eBay, they’re junk and we warned you. If you still want to get them, waste your money, time, and hopefully don’t take out a family of 14 in a minivan while doing 120 or up, enjoying the BMW out on the highway when something goes wrong, have at it.
Hopefully, a fluke of nature occurs, you have great luck with it, let us know we were not spot on, hopefully, if you do get them, and they suck, which they do by the way, let us know too, that way some other dude, or dudette doesn’t waste their time, their money, and maybe some huge family of fourteen make it to the Golden Corral safely, and that they can engorge themselves some more. Happy people all over, in the meantime get the F out of my way! <<< Me driving my old happy 20 year old E39’s well over a hunnerd miles per hour, daily to work, and home, no joke. Big smile on Snotty’s face.....

I thought it was funny just the same. I'll update everyone when I finish the install. I bought the suncore industry bags. I don't think anyone even checked out the link. No sweat either way

I certainly checked out the Suncore link... $125 for both, is still dirt cheap, just as cheap as the Amazon bags and still bags that, IMO and knowing the E39 scene/cars as I do (even though I’m over here in Blighty where apparently our BMW market is massively different...), the bags are cheap, probably shit and will probably fail, quickly...

But, as Snotty said, hopefully you’ll have a freak of nature moment and they’ll work out for you and last another 100k miles...

If/when they don’t, maybe then you’ll realise that buying cheap/buying twice is a crap way to do it and listen to the sound advice offered on here...

    Yours truly

Dan (from the land of the fucked up, weird BMW market)
