Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a clean, unmodified 535 E34 in an excellent condition. Manual is preferred but auto is ok as well. Mileage <= 120k miles. Clean title. No rust. Must pass PPI without showing any major problems.
Not interested in 540 or 530. 525 manual can be considered.
Prefer to buy on West Coast but if there is a really nice car, traveling to buy is not a problem.

Thank you.

Still looking.

Hi there,
Honestly, your best bet is to search yourself and pay attention to the E34 subforum and E34 FB groups. I'm sure you've already consulted BaT and know the prices that these examples go for.
I would bring up two points worth nothing. First, the M30 can go for many, many hundreds of thousands of miles. I am a bit perplexed by the arbitrary 120K mileage limit. A clean car that has been maintained and has 200K will be a better runner than a car with 100K that has low mileage so nothing has been done. I see this time and time again with BMWs.
Second, passing a PPI with 'no major issues' suggests that you are looking for near perfection. The newest example is nearly 30 years old, so chances are unless you are looking to spent $8-12K, you will have to address either mechanical or cosmetic issues. Not an issue necessarily, but I'm sure you've scoped out the market and know this already.

No affiliation but I just saw this on eBay, looks nice:

Oh man I just googled the VIN of that car, and it turns out it's the same one that sold on BaT in 2017. I always wondered what happened to that car - the person who bought it back then got a screaming deal on a really neat example:

Another edit: after reading the eBay ad, it seems that it wasn't as clean in 2017 as it first looked.
The title was duplicated... Does it mean that there were some issues with the car?
It may just mean that a previous owner lost the title and had a duplicate one issued. I would shoot the seller an email asking for clarification.
Thanks! working on it
I'm the seller, duplicate title was surfaced and discussed on BaT in 2017 sale, I acquired car from the BaT buyer....that's all the info I have on that item.
You still interested? I have a 1990 535i/5
