Can i swap ews 2 systems and have car start ?

Hey everyone i am new to the e36 scene and hoping to get my car running!
I have found out my DME has water damage on my 1998 e36 318is so i am thinking of swapping it out with the one from a donor car i have. What i want to make sure of is will it work on my personal car if i also swap out the ews2 module and get a key & transponder chip programmed to suit since i know its all vin specific. In theory this should work but would like someone to confirm.

You can just get a spare dme for 318 and simply sync ews.. it's super easy.
