    E30 crank position sensor

Hi Guys, wondering if you can help me out, i have a e30 right now with no spark and no injector pulse. i suspect the cps is bad, i have tested resistance which ohms out 536 which seems to be in the safe zone but i do know it doesnt mean its functional as the previous one i had on the car had a broken wire but still checked out in the resistance test. So is there any further diagnostic tests that i can do to prove it is the cps bad. i am planning to buy a new OEM one from BMW on saturday so just needing to confirm cps is the actual prob.

If you have access to an oscilloscope you can check sensor output while cranking.

    No e30s, again :(
    yup, they are.

make sure the tang on the flywheel is still there, also. the tang missing will make it so your sensor seems to not read and you will not get fuel. spray some starter fluid in the intake while cranking, if it attempts to run, you are missing the tang, most likely. then you can look through the hole for the sensor and rotate the flywheel to look for the missing tang
    No e30s again.

its ok, I spaced out and told you the check for a 325e. I told you wrong.

for yours, the only time I had problems, I could replicate them by starting the car and wiggling the wire by the sensor and it would cause the car to misfire and run badly. other wise, it tested good, just like you said yours does.

When the car did run...about 2 months ago... it should start on a low battery only ..and when it did...it ran fine until you switched it off and tried to start it again.... ever since then the car has not run.

I remember your other thread. it still hasn't gotten corrected? that's a bummer. so it won't start even on a low battery, like it used to?
