The power windows, the central locks, and the courtesy lights dont work in my 318i. The fuses are fine. I've read it could be the ZKE module behind the glove box.
I got the glove box out, now I cant seem to get the actual module to budge. And tricks for getting it out? Once it's out, are there are parts to be serviced inside or is a bad module a bad module? I know a replacement must match the original part number exactly.
It's the last of frustrating problems with this car!
Fuses are fine as in looked at them or checked them with a meter? Are they getting 12v?
It sure could be the BCM if the fuses are getting power. But it also could be other problems. Bad grounding and lack of power from bad wireing accur often in old cars. There are no servicable parts within the bcm.
If the bcm is mounted to the chassis, there are 10mm black plastic screw nuts holding it.. If its within the black plastic module holder, you push the bottom tab down then slide the bcm module out.. If its a convertible, there will be plugs on front and back of the module.
If you arent sure which module is which, simply google the bmw part number on the module you pull out and see if it comes up as the body control module. Usually.. Body conyrol modules fit tue chassis. For instance all obd1 coupes share the same bcm. All ovd1 verts share the same bcm. All obd2 coupes share the same bcm, all obd2 verts share the same BCM.. There are few exceptions..
The trick is to push down the locking tabs, one each side on the black plastic frame.
Then it just pulls fowards.
Beware there are either one or two plugs on the rear as well.
