    Tpm

    2013 e70 35xi L.C.I.

I have a reoccurring problem that comes and goes if I drive the vehicle. Let me elaborate; If my truck sits for a few days I get a high battery drain warning. Once I drive it just a little bit, it goes away. If the weather happens to drop into the 20's, the tpm low tire pressure warning comes on. Resetting the tire pressure monitor sometimes takes 4 or more tries [stop with engine running, reset and drive off]

Can a faulty tire pressure monitor cause an intermittent "high battery drain" warning?
    TIA!

I think you have 2 separate problems, allow me to explain.

So the batteries in the TPM sensors are rated at 6 years, I have a feeling that one of them is failing thus causing the TPM to turn-on. Had the same problem with a 228i MY-14 the other day.

For the second, how old is your battery? Typically I see them last around 7 years, and you maybe towards the end of it's service life.

Battery is brand new. Every time the weather drops into the 20's my pain in the ass tpm triggers. The parasitic battery drain is miniscule because if I drive her the slightest amount of time, it goes away until she sits for a couple days. It's just a pain in the ass. Plus the low tire warning symbol takes up the whole window with its "in your face" display taking away the normal display...
    Whatcha got?

A new battery may not be fully charged when you buy it. Why? It may not have been fully charged at the factory, it may have sat on a shelf for months, etc.

As noted, get the car scanned to figure out which TPS sensor is bad. It may be the battery or the sensor may be kaput. Then charge the battery using the appropriate charger. Lastly, drive the vehicle 20+ miles at highway+ speeds on a weekly basis. These cars are rolling computers and there is a constant drain on the battery. As a side note, the early 1990s 7 series had to have the alternator pulley replaced with a smaller diameter pulley to increase the alternator’s speed.
