e53 With Power Folding Rear Seats

If you're a weirdo like me who is fascinated by obscure factory options, check this out:

I never knew this was ever an option on anything this old, and still cannot even find any information on it....

Anyways, I thought some of you would get a kick out of this too.

Isn’t that S641A Electric seat backrest adjustment, rear? Not quite fold flats though...
    From the OM
You can make separate adjustments of the backrest tilt angle on the right and left sides.
You can select a comfortable sitting position and also increase the capacity of the cargo area by moving the back- rests into their most upright position.

From the cargo area: the switches are located on both sides of the cargo area.

You would be correct. It is just backrest rear adjustment, not actual rear folding seats like the video said.

That is probably why I couldn't find anything under power fold rear seats e53 on Google...

It's still kind of funny how they would include the switches in the cargo area to only bring the seats up to the full upright position, which would give you a few more inches of cargo room....

    Cool My 2 cent worth

My loaded '05 X5 has that option (and every other) and it is intended to allow the rear seat passenger to adjust the seat back angle and the switches in the back are just to gain extra cargo space when the seat is unoccupied. The seat folds manually by detaching from the motorized movable latch. The seats do not fold completely flat but pretty damn close with little or no bump at the hinge. I have a SUV tailgate tent and it is flat enough to comfortably sleep in the back.

Yeah, it seems like a pretty slick setup. My e70 X5 has manual folding rear seats, but doesn't even have rear manual adjustable seat backs....

My 2001 Nissan Pathfinder did though
