I'm making a track sponsored assetto server. Seems like a good way to stay sharp in between real events. You guys play at all?

I do from time to time. Would play more if I had more friends to tandem with and talk to

I'm setting up a server in the near future. Maybe next week if I can get this track modeled well enough.

I'm not very good at 3 modeling. But I think it's coming together.

Nice. How hard is it making the track? I'm computer literate and I could get some real benefit from making the vegas road course and practicing before comps.
Hell there's a pro2 shootout there this september

I used to 3d model a little in my teens. Even then the learning curve is steep. Hard to find info. I got help from a few other track devs to get the lidar data. But man that lidar data makes a world of a difference. Everything is within a foot or two of the real world and all the road cambers are there.
If I was legit and did this 40 hours a week I could probably have 1 track done in a month to a month and a half.

I play decent amount, more so in the winter during the off season. But usually on a couple times a week.

What's your setup?

Pretty basic. Logitech G920 with hand brake. Play in VR.
What VR do you use? I've been dying to get one but can't justify the price right now.

Want VR but I'm one of those people who get motion sick using it too long.
My setup is all fanatec stuff, DD1 base. Simetik rig, cheapo NRG seat, 42" TV
instagram @andyitslit
Is fanatec worth the 3x price?

I use the vive. You can find them pretty cheap used. It definitely strains the eyes after long periods of use. But I probably won’t go back to monitors unless it breaks. You eventually get use to it and the motion sickness goes away.
Yea but do you really want someone else's head funk?

Very true, I would not. I was going to recommend changing the foam pads and head strap if you go the used route.

I've been modeling shenandoah circuit lately. So far it feels pretty true to life.

Looks good!
6 car tandem on my local track! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2332...9680091712055/
I learned how to do 3d modeling with lidar data for this. It's VERY true to life.

I mostly play Dirt Rally 2 but I did fire up AC when I took last week off. Next time I'm on I'll try to see if I can join your server.
It's nice to just load up and jam. We have about 5 guys on every night doing trains. Very cathartic. Hoping the track will help sponsor the servers.

Here's video someone else took of a track I made last week. It's Old Dominion Speedway that used to be around here in Virginia but is now an apartment complex (sad face). I found the USGS lidar data and pulled up an old google maps photo set and made the track as true to life as I could.

crickets in this subforum so here's an update. I 3d printed the Committed Service Brand ebrake handle for my ebrake.

Were you going to make some sort of a "getting started" guide for AC or something? So far I don't have a damn clue what I'm doing. Lol
