While blinded by oncoming traffic and a deer jumping in front of me, I did not see it in time and hit it. The deer was a big male and was able to leave the scene with no problems.
I was able to drive home also. Now I want to fix things and I am not able to open the hood. I'm hoping someone reads this post that has had the same scenario or something close enough to give me some hints on what to do.
I can always cut it open but would prefer not to …See attached pics.
i'd really consider cutting out around the locking mechanism. might be the best solution.
chances are that it will then release the rest because the tension is gone then.
i assume you're going to get a new hood anyway.
Try wiggling the locking mechanisms-squarish looking things bolted to the core support.
My guess is the core support got impacted and those things are now sitting cockeyed and probably jammed against the hood pins. Looks like you have some room under there to look and work. See if you can free them up and get the hood open. Pry bar might help.
If all else fails, drill them out from the hood side.
