LOOKING FOR A GOOD FAULT READER/ANALYZER (again)

Have now tried 3 types of analyzers all claim to do wonderful things. Is there anyone out there that can recommend one? I have a 2003 E85 with an M54 engine. Thanks.

You should scan the car with an autologic and see what it picks up

    Two Z3 Roadsters
I have 2 setups that work well:
    - INPA setup on an old windows surface pro
    - Foxwell NT530 with BMW software installed.

What scanners have you tried so far?
    1999 2.8L Z3 Roadster,
    2000 3.0L Z3 Roadster,

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.

What three analyzers did you have? Did they claim to be BMW specific? Unless they are, they are pretty useless for anything other than emission codes.

Like Muzz258 I have tried two of them:

INPA with an old Windows XP laptop - You have to buy a cable for ODBC to USB (and make sure it is compatible with a E85 chassis) and it is a bit clunky to set up and use, but it can read and reset all of the codes. The software you can get on the net for free, my laptop was a surplus unit our IT department was going to discard (I had to buy a new battery for it) and the cable is about $30 - $40-ish on Amazon.

Carly for BMW - This uses a bluetooth adapter in your ODBC port and the software downloads to your phone or tablet. The Carly is much easier to use to read codes and it can also do some limited programming to enable/disable features on the car. The total cost for the adapter and software (they are sold separately) was a little under $150.

+1, I also have the Creator 310+, cost something like $60 via Amazon when I bought it several years ago

Another vote for Foxwell. It’s unlikely you would need anything else. I can also confirm the Foxwell 530 can take your e85 in and out of travel mode
