New here - trying to get my bearings on a few upgrades.

    Hi everyone,

I am brand new here, and brand new to the Z3 - I just picked up a 1999 2.5 this past Friday. It's 120K miles and in incredible shape - needless to say I'm thrilled. There are a few things I'm looking to do, listed below, and I was hoping some of you could fill in the gaps or point me in the right direction for more info?

    1. Seat Heaters
      1. So from what I've read, all Z3's are wired for seat heaters, you just need to connect the switch and install the heaters, unless I'm missing something.
      2. Parts

        1. Seat bottom heater
        2. Seat back heater
        3. Buttons

    2. Broken Up/Down motor on driver seat
      1. My power up/down on the driver side is broken and the seat is higher than the passenger side
      2. I've found This guide that walks through how to do it manually (Specifically the post by EarlLeeBird)

    3. Cruise Control
      1. Parts:

        1. Stalk
        2. Computer
        3. Clutch Switch

      2. Guide

    4. Seatbelt Guides
      1. I've found these OEM guides
      2. This guide seems to walk through it in detail

    5. Bumper Plugs

      1. I've found these plugs, but does anyone have a better suggestion? I hate front plates, and I've considered just having them bondo/touch up for a flush look

    6. Humpectomy

      1. So I'm 6'4" and I don't have a huge height issue (I think it should be fixed once the seat gets lowered), but I've read all over (including here) about making the seat even lower, which would be nice. That said, am I completely missing the point of the mod?

    And....that's it

Oh, and here are some pics - I've swapped the tail lights so far (not a fan of amber) and I'm waiting for some LED's to arrive before I swap the sidemarkers and headlights (so front pictures to come).

    Hi

You seem to have it all sorted except for the cruise control mod. There are two style of cruise control used on the Z3. You require the later model one to match your duel VANOS engine

    The parts you need are:
    - stalk, you have the correct one listed
    - computer. The correct one is part number 65718380054. The one you have listed is for the older style cruise control
    - Clutch switch, you have the correct one listed

    Regards

Thanks so much Murray! Just to confirm, I need this vs. the following? Or do I just need to get rid of the computer and keep the OEM Part?
    1. Computer
    2. OEM Part 65710007353

The 3 parts you need are:
    1) stalk, you have the correct one listed
    2) computer. The correct one is part number 65718380054. You do not need the other Cruise control computer

I've used the Bumper Plugs on a Porsche 911 before and the results were far better than having two holes in the bumper showing. They matched factory paint perfectly.

And I’m with you on not being a fan of amber lights on my Arctic Silver Z3 Coupe. I just order the similar tail light for my Coupe ( slightly different style) and replaced the headlights last night. Side and bumper lights already swapped too.

For the seat heaters, you need to know which connector your car has for heating elements. There is a single 4 pin connector on older ones, and a larger yellow multi-connector. I think they switched in 99 or 2000. You will also need the relay under the hood for them to work. It's a common relay and I grabbed one from the junkyard for mine.

Is that the connector from the pad to the harness, or the harness to the switch? The heating components I looked up were for my model, but do I only need the pads, or additional cables?
