    Header question

    86 635CSi_US.
Custom exhaust guy is having trouble attaching to the top 2 inch collector box
which is very close to the firewall. They're Ireland headers on a Hartge B35 head
on a B34 block. Has anyone ever had similar experience or problems customizing
exhaust pipes for these headers with close interference at the bottom curve of the firewall?

Any and all input is encouraged.

    thanks

I'll post on Big Coupe also

Bob IIRC someone on a forum somewhere brought up the fact of them being a marginal fit. Have Jody look at Fernandos car as he was running them I don't know who he got them from/ Other solution is to take a 3" pipe and putting it lengthwise knock an indentation in the firewall and pick up an additional 1/4" clearance. No one will ever notice it. But again I believe it is a given they fit tight

    Bert,

That's t I suggested but they wouldn't do it. They didn't want anyone in the
future to see that and ruin their reputation for doing shoddy work. Go figure.
There're going to take off that header and fabricate the collector box to fit.

    Bob,

I had the same problem Irelands headers when they first offered them. Gosh, this was 10-15 years ago? Sent the first set back (would not clear the frame rail) and they sent another set which impacted the firewall.

Ended sourcing some genuine Hartge units. Perfect fit.

    Dr. George,

How are you. Good to hear from you.
They fabricated a curved connector to solve the problem.
Will we see you for "Sharkfest"?

Too early to say Bob. The clutch, brakes and steering components are removed from my car. I have new parts in the garage. Just need to install and hope it all works

    George,

What can I do to inspire you to get it done?

    Looking forward to seeing you?
