For me the reward is driving pleasure. If I have a tight budget then maybe I can’t mod much to increase my driving pleasure. If I have more money, I mod more. I always consider money spent on modding your be money I will never see again. No return on investment. Bang for the buck, sure. I always try to maximize that.
I would just check the head for warpage with a straight edge and feeler gauges, or even just a flashlight, and put it back together..
