E36 M3, OBD1, with track mods.
Any strong positive or negative feedback on TRM or RK-TUNES?
Whose else is still doing this?
I'm also looking at a few local guys.
I'll be doing the typical track tune for: 900rpm idle, 7200rpm red line, with a handful of engine mods.
RK tunes my s50

That looks legit.
I called them. Was just wondering why they are 1/2 the price of TRM.
I'm not sure I care.
(I currently have a TRM tune, but with cam change, need an new tune.)
Yes. ForceFed Performance.

I guess choices are good.
Pretty long list:
11.5:1 Paul Burke designed Wiseco 84.5mm pistons
Metric Mechanic Rally grind cams
Ported head with 1mm oversized valves
S52 crank with 12lbs removed
3.5 MAF
Racelands shorty header
Custom made 2:1 merge and full 3” single exhaust
And a long laundry list of supporting mods.
And Zack at 22RPD made me a custom header but I never got the opportunity to install/test it. But he made some for a race team and said team picked up 20hp in the midrange and 5 peak on a 2.8 build.

Those look all equal length and shit, and bends not too close to ports.
I'll PM you my address to send them, thanks.
+1 for Zack at 22RPD
TTFS is in your neck of the woods.
Well crap....
2nd chip from Zack at 22RPD...and idle is at 750 rather than the increased idle I requested.
1st chip was DOA.
I now don't have confidence the tune is what I requested, well, because it's not. What else is missing I wonder?
Car runs a little rough between 2500-4000rpm.
Who knows.
Might try RK.
Ok, RKTunes ordered. I may dyno both of them, woudln't that be interesting.
But, if the RKtunes tune actually idles at 900, and smoother between 2000-4000, that's my answer.
Ordered from RKTunes today at 11:50, shipped at 1:40.
That's good.
Nice

RK Tunes received and installed.
Idles at 900 as requested. No-load throttle response between 1000-3000rpm MUCH better.
Feels smoother between 2000-4000, but still a little "out of balance" between 3000-3500. This is so subjective I'm going to call it even for now.
But, idle speed proves 22RPD didn't provide what I asked for, so I'm sticking with RKTunes for now. If I get ambitious, I might switch chips at the track. I'll report back if I do.
I sent 22RPD/Zach a note.
One more update on my tunes. Reminder: I bought the 22RPD tune first, but it didn't work. Then was sent another chip, and idle was not set at what I asked for, and rough under 3500rpm. And Zach was very slow to respond. So, I bought RKTunes. Completely different and positive experience.
I've been running the RKTunes with only a very minor issue (which Jordan has said if I send him AFRs, he'll work with me, so cool!).
So I thought I'd pop in the 22RPD tune today and see how it was on track.
Short version, with the 22RPD tune, at wide-open throttle, 4th gear or 5th gear, 5000-7000rpm, AFRs look to be (dangerously?) high: 14 to 14.6.
And, my coolant temps were +10-12 degs.
I almost think the tune is for a different engine configuration. I don't know.
I sent Zack a note, but he never responded to my last one, so I'm done with 22RPD. Wasted money.
Thanks for the update! Always good to follow up and close the book on the wasted effort so others can go straight to the vendors that support their product.
Zack did respond to my last email. Offered to fix things if I did a dyno run.
That's one option.
