    E82 tail light not working

Hi guys wondered if anyone could help
My tail light recently stopped working but all other lights worked like indicator, brake and indicator so I replaced the tail light bulb but it still did not work, the guy told me that the led component usually goes because the seals let water in an that I would have to replace the whole unit. Got home from work today and my new unit has arrived so I changed it over and the tail light still does not work but all other lights still do.
Any ideas on what this could be?
    My car is a 2008 e82 123d
    Thanks

The easy first answer to plug the car into a BMW-specific computer and see what codes it spits out. It seems likely that you have no voltage or a bad ground, but exactly why is difficult to say. Some diagnostic work is going to be required.
