2008 X5 valve cover gasket replacement

I'm 90% there, and the valve cover is off, but I can't remove it from the motor because of the 2 x electrical wiring harnesses that go over the valve cover...how do I get more slack? They seem contained in a bracket under the filters, but not sure how to release that bracket.....what else can I do to get more slack?

The top two large wiring harnesses go over the valve cover....wish BMW just put connectors there to make life easier

Take off that black plastic hold down thing and they will pull out giving you some extra slack.

Yeah, I actually ended up breaking it where the notch is. I thought it was fastened on the side next to the shock tower, so the little tab holding it down by the firewall broke, and I pulled it completely off, I realized I should have just pulled up from end by the shock tower.....those are in there pretty good and when all assembled, I'm not sure why BMW added the little bracket? Its not going anywhere with the covers on? Anyways, seemed like I didn't even need to touch it. I removed the top harness from the middle cover and that gave me enough room. That and the mounting bracket for the vanity cover, and it had enough clearance

BMW loves to add unnecessary brackets and hold downs. Sometimes I think it helps with the manufacturing process. And sometimes certain ones don't get put back on.
