Swapping air bag control module

My E39 has an assortment of faults within SRS. All air bags are in tact and I get a power supply fault and 2 ICU faults... Using scanner 1.4. I have a spare control module. What are the actual steps that i need to take, in order to swap modules, using scanner 1.4? Do I need to read the existing module? Or just swap the spare module in? And then what?

Oops... Swapoed the module. Nkw scanner 1.4 doesnt even communicate with the car. Put the opd module back in and still nothing.
