New oil filter housing for retrofit

Hey Everyone, trying to make sure i don't make a mistake when adding the pieces needed to get an oil coler for my '07 335i.

I have ssen these housings listed on ebay while trying to find a used one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Oil-Filter-Housing-for-BMW-328i-X1-X3-2-0L-l4-DOHC-11428683206/333488827655?hash=item4da57bad07:g:9D0AAOSwerZd-DhQ

They claim to be "new", and are significantly less expensive then an OE one from FCP or ECS. Should I just avoid completely? Its not a moving part and I would think I should be ok, but part of me always wonders.

    Your car is 2007 335i.
You're looking at hardware for an I4.
May be the same... I didn't google. At 64~ usd, ... something is off. Expect to buy quality gaskets separately at the very least.
Sorry, my look was brief... spidey senses tingling. May be OK with research and quality peripherals. Presumably used.

I cross referenced the part number on REALOEM and it come up as compatible being that it was superseded part number wise: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?id=WB73-USA-09-2006-E92-BMW-335i&mg=11&sg=30&diagId=11_3971&q=11428683206&seri es=E92

    Hi SS Ball3r,

Hopefully others with more experience will chime in.
While "it's not a moving part" is semi correct, there are still some moving parts, which you want to move smooth, at the right pressure, and seal very well.

It shows the gaskets, sensor and cap included. I'd verify that. That alone is worth the price. Make sure your cap has the cage and 2 o-rings.

My thought would be to use the new OEM gaskets i already ordered and swap out the OEM cap and sensor. I don't necesarrily trust those bits. If i could find a decent priced used filter housing i would gladly go that route as well. Maybe a trip to the local pcik and pull instead?

The problem i am finding is that for these cars no one ever seems to know. If i was to ask this question regarding my e30 or even in the e36 community since these cars are old there would liekly be tons of poeple that had already done this, lol.

    Good call.
    Yes, I'm sure.
I'm on my 3rd E9x and this is a first for me.
Used or Ebay, my only concern with the housing would be the internal spring, guide and seal.

    Wishing you the best!
