    Restraint systems gone bad

Hello, new to the forum, thought i could ask some questions here since google isnt really helping.

I have an error code 93f9 on my 2004 bmw e61, restraint systems failiure.

I believe the last owner has replaced the sgm/sim module with another used one because the recorded miles on it is different compared to my car, however i believe they didnt "flash" it to the car wich makes my airbag light and seat belt light to come on.

Any help at all would be great, i have just installed inpa, tool32 etc.. Kind of a newdie at this though!

Any easy start guide to fix this would be the best!

Yeah about that, what codes am i looking for? The only one i got so far was 93f9, no other message than that.

I have just been scanning with a code reader, going to do a scan once more with inpa after work today.

Is it possible that the 93f9 error code showed up because the last owner put in a used sgm/sim module without "flashing" it with the car?

The only answers i have gotten about the error code is that its either bad capacitors in the sgm/sim module, or one of the front seat headrest explosive charge is broken.

I have the standard leather seats, no comfort or sport seats so i assume i dont have any headrest explosive charge in them.

I should also mention that after clearing the error code it doesnt pop up until i turn off the car and turn it on again.

I read on a forum a while ago that if the error code doesnt pop up again after clearing the code until you turn the car on again the module is not faulty.

    Any ideas?

Does your code reader give a description of the code? Or just the code number? A number by itself is pretty much useless. Codes should always be accompanied by a description from the scan tool.

The code reader that i had just gave a number, 93f9.
I scanned with inpa today and it gave me the fault code
93f9, power reserve, something like that.

I guess it means that my sgm/sim module is broken and in need for repair.

It also had the correct vin number so i guess the module was never replaced, guess i was looking att the wrong module lol.

Anyways, anyone who knows a company that can solder on new capacitors to the module here in europe? Seems like its pretty common for the capacitors to break down.

I have inspection of the car in like 2 months so i really need to get this sorted out quick and easy.

I might check on MCA in romania if they can fix the module since they are pretty good with repairing idrives etc, but any other company that could fix the problem would be much appreciated aswell!

I can also try to repair it myself, i would need some information about this though.

What sort of capacitors is used in the sgm/sim module?

Is it just that easy that i can remove the old capacitors and solder on new ones?

Any sort of flashing after this procedure?

Any info at all would be great!
