Looking at a dirt cheap 645Ci

    Found a 04 645Ci automatic for $3,500

140k and has the triangle with the exclamation point lit up on the dash and I asked what for and he said "needs a tune up and I forgot the gas cap"

Now to me this seems absolutely ridiculous and like the seller just doesn't care or want to give up any info.

Is this a horrible idea ? Should I even waste my time ?

Be very careful buying this car. The seller is totally lying to you. There is a reason it is inexpensive. Do lot's of research, have deep pockets or be able to do your own work and have the proper software/tools. You can get upside down in this car in a heartbeat

You should hook it to a good scanner to find out what the problems are. My triangle on my 650 is lit and the only reason is the anti trap feature on the drivers window. Nothing major , but the one on this car could be a major repair . I bought my 650 with 168000 miles on it last year and all total I've spent about $1500.00 on it replacing the normal stuff, thrust arms, tierod ends, sway bar ends, a couple coolant hoses but nothing major. So far I think I got a good deal as I love the car and only have around $7000.00 in it. But I do all my own work and have the BimmerGeeks Protool scanner to fix stuff with.
