    2011 535i valve cover gasket replacement

    I have approximately 125000 miles on the car. Oil is leaking from the valve cover front and rear. BMW dealer quoted to replace just the valve cover gasket, no problem. German car mechanic shop requires the replacement of the valve cover itself to replace the gasket. Said the valve cover itself is prone to cracking therefore leaking. BMW dealership mentioned nothing about replacing the valve cover. Any thoughts?

    Any vehicle over 80k, I recommend replacing the complete valve cover. Especially at your mileage.
