    1998 e39 m sport steering wheel in '95 m3

Anyone know if this will fit a '95 m3? I have one lying around (along with the getrag 6 speed) from a '98 540i m sport I parted out, single stage airbag. I'd like to replace the 4 spoke wheel on the m3 I just picked up, I tried search but it didn't come up with anything on that specific combo (or my search fu is weak).

edit: Looks like this has the info. Should have snagged the slip ring off of the 540, oh well.

Neither of those do you much good. The E39 3-spoke is 385mm. The E36 version is 375mm. The difference in size is significant in the E36.

That V8 6-speed only bolts to V8. There’s a lot of back and forth as to whether a 6cyl bell housing swap is doable. Some say the input shaft is different, some say you can swap housings no problem.

The stock m3 wheel is 385mm, no? I'd do it for the cosmetics and thicker grip, had the same wheel in my 740i sport and really liked it. It was similar diameter to the non sport wheel but much thicker. Guess I can measure both and see.

I wasn't really contemplating swapping the 6 speed in unless for some reason I have issues with the 5 speed... and then it'd probably be easier to grab another 5 speed. I'm keeping an eye out for another 740i with a bad auto trans to put that in as I still have the whole drivetrain from the 540.

The 740i isn't an E36 M3. It's horribly too big and solves nothing going from the 4-spoke to that. Get the correct E36 specific 3-spoke steering wheel. Your car though, do whatever you want to make it perform worse.

It's from an e39, not a 740, but whatever. It's a cosmetic mod, it's not like a steering wheel is some big game changer performance wise ffs, especially on a street car. Who pissed in your wheaties this morning?

Yeah, we know. It's the same wheel for E39 and E38.
