    Ignition delay

Hi, 635csi (Euro RHD) ... rego says 82 but everyone tells me they did not make them in 1982?? anyway, currently mid-restoration but coming across a problem I was having when I was last driving her, in that..

When I turn the key, dash lights up etc but when I turn all the way to crank I have to wait 2 - 5 seconds before anything happens, then she cranks and off we go.. the delay is always at least 2-3 seconds and sometimes longer.

I have replaced the fuel relay next to the fusebox and another random relay next to that for good measure, prior to changing those the delay was much worse and sometimes would not crank at all and had been resorting to shorting the solenoid next to the fuse box to get her started.

Any ideas ? its kind of annoying.

Also off topic, sort of, I am so used to keyless ignition these days I was wondering if anyone had retro-fitted keyless and push-button start to an old girl like mine ? any links appreciated.

    Cheers!

I can't remember why but many years ago I installed a push start button,
when I finally sorted the problem back it went to oem.

    This is not key-less.

I had a similar issue, I thought it was a starter issue but it ended up being the ignition switch at the back of the key cylinder , the plastic had cracked and it was not making full contact. I would try that first. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/61321377105/

As Pino suggested, replace the electrical portion of the switch
