It is. There are people who can code them out but realistically that is probably something to do after they fail vs preemptively.

The 750 now includes Electric Catalytic Converter, or "E-CAT", assemblies. Heating coils inside the catalytic converter assemblies are electrified just after engine start, bringing the catalyst up to operating temperature very quickly to qualify the vehicle for Low emission vehicle (LEV) designation. This system required the use of a two-battery system. This electric catalytic converter had been fitted since 1995 by Alpina to their B12 5,7 E-KAT saloon based on the BMW 750i, as it had been developed jointly by Emitec, Alpina and BMW.

+1 to CPHES on the junk.

Can’t see the thread on the accumulators, so just in case.

Maybe because it is on the other channel?

LR window regulator done, tint removed. I was able to repair the quarter shade. New struts for the boot so it doesn't fall on my head. Now I need to get after that SLS? Accumulators are an unexpected cost, going to pull the leaking hose to have it repaired and see if the hydraulics shop and test the accumulator? There is really no need for them in a system like this the pump is running all of the time so it would not reduce cycling.

The pressure accumulators are shocks for the shock. The nitrogen forces the fluid back into the shocks. Otherwise you would have additional fluid force on the pump causing issues.

So I think I figured out the SLS, I got under the car and the control valve arm was broken. All of the lines show signs of leaks! I removed the arm for replacement, lowered the car onto the springs a put a pin through the valve. It looks like it was under pressure the whole time. The leaks have appeared to have stopped? If the whole system is shot it will be coilover time. I'm going to bleed some fresh fluid back there as well. Drained and filled the rear diff because I was there, fluid that came out looked like new.

Pulled a suspect wheel speed sensor and then got busy on the leather. I'm doing the Pepsi challenge. I cleaned the back with Pristine clean and then treated one side with Griot's and the other with Leatherique. We will see which one turns out better? I do like that Griot's is more like a gel than a liquid.

I didn't know the cats on the 750 were electrically heated, no wonder the car needs two batteries!
Looks the battery on my car is failing after three years. It doesn't hold enough to start the car after standing outside for a week in cold damp weather.

Pristine clean and then Leatherique on that side. I also put a heater in the car to try and sweat the conditioner in. I just put it on my hand and rub it in to the leather. I got the wheel speed sensor in and failed at trying to weld the SLS rod. Going for some wheels and tires this morning.

Well I pulled the trigger. The guy with the chrome MPARS never got back to me. The tires are on the small side but for now they will do the job.

Yeah for $700 with good tires it seemed like a simple answer. Going to get the front bumper repaired and then think about exhaust? Right now it is quite as a church mouse, I want to hear that V12! My son wants straight pipes which are easy to try. I think I will start with some research but the first attempt will be to just drop the mufflers. Then I may try the Remlus off of my 740. Anyone got an SLS actuator arm laying around?

Which one? 2 & 3 aren’t bad, about $20-30 each. If the arm on the valve broke... maybe a JY?

I found the PN on real oem and ECS has the arm for $20.

I'm looking at trim and my trim code is S438A, anyone know the name? I think its the standard walnut. My center console trim is crap but I'm worried that if I change one piece it won't be grain matched. And of course I don't want to lose the chrome.

So many things to consider? Exhaust, suspension, sell it, keep it? I guess it's a project so I'll just take it step by step and see what happens. I really like keeping it stock but now that I have my 740 lowered and tuned it's a pretty sweet ride as well.

So check out http://www.e38registry.org and you can see all the trims. Also you might be able to find your vehicle...

You can get the lowering springs for edc/sls. I have those but not installed yet. Part of my larger project of refreshing the edc/sls through Nagenast (sp?) in Poland. It is a refresh of about $200 a corner plus shipping to Poland. I found a service that looks like it can ship the 4 there for ~$70. Not bad, refresh stock system and lower it for about the same amount as coilovers.

Yeah I have EDC/SLS on my 740 and I lowered it on H&R springs. It's firm but not stiff. I cleared the Airbag light and it looks like a steering angle sensor for the DSC light. I can't get into the DME's to have a look. I'm going to try my XP machine and see if that works.

    Yup, standard walnut trim. Thanks.

Bumper off, PDC trim replaced. I was able to remove the PDC mounts, drill holes in the non-PDC trim and glue in the PDC mounts. I had one spare PDC trim and one spare non-PDC trim that came with the car. The left bumper mount was broken and they put a 2" screw threw it, I replaced that. Both fog light were screwed in so I repaired those mounts as well. Looking much better up front. Now I just need to test the PDC before the bumper goes on for good.

Well I got the DSC light off. It was the steering angle sensor. This is what I found,
    steering analog.PNG
I did some poking around and cleared some codes. All is well. Now on to the PDC before I put the front bumper back on. Right now it see's no front sensors?

There are several I've seen that look very similar... are those the "turbines" (or replicas thereof) or just a similar model? Either way, they're good lookin wheels, replicas or not.

If you weren’t across the country the Beyern could find a new home with me...

Just got my leather dye in from World Upholstery, need to find some time and redo my leather etc.

I need some opinions, the steering wheel I have has leather damage at the top. My other care also has a heated wheel. I can try and recover the wheel I have or buy a different wheel. I could steel the heated wheel from my car and put a sport wheel in or just put a spot wheel in the 750. Part of me wants to keep the 750 original and part of me wants to trick it out. At this point in time I think it is rare enough to try and keep it original but I really enjoyed tricking my 740 out.

I have a 50mph shimmy and verified that the strut arm ball joints are toast. I have new ones on the way and will use polyurethane bushings. Right now I'm working on conditioning the leather and will redye the front seats.

My vote: I would keep the heated steering wheel in the 750. Although the sport is a great wheel, something about the 750 demands the comforts to work. So the heated wheel, seats, etc.

I put a sport wheel in to replace the heated one. Not going back, as the sport wheel is a bit fatter. It feels better. My heated one is clean. I’ll see if I can find it. You can always go back to heated if you want.
