    Toyota oil in BMW 435d

    Hello,

I have a lot of Toyota 5W-30 1WW/2WW engine oil and I was wondering if putting it in a BMW 435d can be bad for the car. The oil is made for Toyota 1WW/2WW engines which are based on BMW N47.

I’d be happy to hear your thoughts.

Unless it says BMW ll-04 on it - or alternatively ACEA A3/B3-4 C3 - the answer is no, don't use it.

    Here is what I found:

Toyota Genuine Motor Oil Fuel Economy SAE 5W-30 surpasses the following international petrol and diesel engine oil performance standards and approvals:
    - Certified against ACEA A1/B1-04
    - The oil has the performance level of ACEA A3/B3-04
    - Meets the API SL/Energy Conserving

I guess it should be ok?

No, this motor uses 0W30 LL12FE. Just use the correct oil.

No. Notice the "C3" in my post. That means low-saps (ash) motor oil so your catalytic converters and DPF don't get clogged.

You definitely need to use an oil that's rated for diesels.
