When I replaced the pilot bearing, the old one I used a slide hammer on. The new one I was able to push all the way in with one finger. Its not totally loose as when I turn the inner race it doesnt spin the whole bearing and operates as expected. I just wonder when some vibration and operating temps if it ever would spin the outer race.
How difficult should it really be to put in? The replacement bearing was Fag brand.
Which brand of bearing did you buy? FAG, SKF?
I have seen references to locktite bearing locker.

That's not right. I would try another pilot bearing, it sounds out of tolerance. You should have to tap it in with a mallet.
Do you have a way to measure the old and new bearing?
I have seen this for some bearings, but BMW puts them dry from the factory.

FAG brand. I might take the pressure plate back off and put some red on it just to feel better about it. It cant wobble and definitely would work as is, it just wasnt quite as tight as I expected
I could have put calipers on it and the old one. The old one I think already went out with the trash. If I take the new one back out to loctite it then I'll measure it just to see.
