    Headlights choice for e36

What are you running in your car and how happy are you with the lighting choices you’ve made.
Looking to upgrade the useless stock units with glass angel eyes and hid.
    Asking for a friend...

IMO, angel eyes look stupid, they've been played out years ago. Also if you do get angel eyes it will be difficult to get all the color temps matched up between all the other lights, and if not done right it will look like a rainbow.

Depo projector lenses are a good way to go:

They need H1 bulbs, get either 5000k or 6000k color temp. If you get funky colors you will just get pulled over, especially if your in NY. In my town you will only see someone with pink/green/purple lights once or twice, because they were forced to change them lol. I"ve used this brand and its been reliable:

    Stupid? Ok, sure.
I’m not looking to get anything from eBay, I’ve had horrible experiences and usually zero support after the sale and not that hard up to save a couple of $$.
    Thanks anyways.

I have some HIDs from a place in California called DDM. They have complete headlamp units that are focused pretty well, and the lights work good. I have both Low and High beams in an HID, but the high beams take time to warm up so using them to flash other cars or trucks is no longer a thing. If you want to flash a truck to give it the lane, you have to hold the flasher switch for a few seconds to warm the bulbs up, then you can flash.

Put these on my 97 vert two years ago when i swapped the motor. Very bright and they actually came with bulbs installed .
For $100 is a fair price - nothing fancy

OEM Bosch H7 halogen non-projector units. The later OEM fitted units.

Very happy with them. Beats the HID's H1 light of my 328i's ZKW H1 projecttor units.

I'm running depo headlights with morimoto FX-R projectors. They are D2 bulbs and very bright and clear. I have actually cut the centers out of my inside lenses to stop them from blocking the etching I had done on the lenses.

I bought Apexcone headlights from DDM tuning with 55w 6000K bulbs. Not really happy with them, high and low beams aren't even close to pointing in the same direction. Disconnected the high beams and the lows are bright enough even with the dark Lamin-X film on the lenses.

Gave away my BMWs, driving a VW and an Audi now.

Buy a set of OEM Glass ZKW or Bosch from @Misskitty in this thread - https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-tails-corners
Thats what im doing next month, Nothing will really compare to OEM.. If I was to go aftermarket it would be Depo replica oem lights without angel eyes, They really are not period
correct on the E36.. Its my opinion so def get whatever you like but I dont think they fit the style of the car that well esp in 2020.

Not only are angel eyes period incorrect, they also look awfully bad on the E36 regardless.

I had a set of Bosch ones shipped from the UK, with clear corners, sides and tails all BMW for like 350 or so.

Let's just hope those were from a LHD car and not a RHD car ... for the sake of everyone that drives towards you ...

Well the chance of that being the case. Lets call it zero.

Luckely the lenses can be adjusted from L to R iirc.
