    Failure syndromes:
    • Erratic or no speedometer, erratic or no speed control, erratic wipers functioning.

Might also go in limp mode, I assume.

How do you call this sensor ? Automatic output shaft speed sensor or different call ? Thanks! Sometimes speedometer arrow jump fast without car moving ahead and sometimes even when moving.

Vehicle Speed Sensor B10 is on Page 6200-05 of the ETM.

    B10 shown on Page 7100-10-01

You can probe it at pins 3 and 4 of X260, beside the battery. Page 7100-33-02

The speed sensor in the diff cover will cause the speedometer to jump irratically if it needs cleaning:

    e32_diff1.jpg

It will accumulate ferritic "fuzz" on the blades of the hall sensor, usually just wipe it off and reinstall.

I don't know that it could cause limp mode.

There is another speed sensor in the transmission (4hp22eh/4hp24eh). You can see it here with the cover removed from the tail of the transmission. You only need to remove the pan on the transmission to get to it.

If it has failed or needs cleaning, then it will definitely cause limp mode, but it is not a common issue. If it is functioning normally, it will detect slippage in the clutch packs and will cause a limp mode/trans program fault.

In case you do not have LAD hydraulic rear shocks and that warning comes up, the problem is the check control module in the fuse box in engine bay, open it and resolder it as per this German instruction with pics http://www.e34-welt.de/tips_tricks/R...0e34%20e32.pdf

What will happen if solenoid weak does resistance change ? Case 1: Transmission fault indicator Light stays on after engine is started. Vehicle can only be driven in the Emergency program. Is this indicator on dashboard when shift selector in drive position and on left side is E. Suppose to be A after engine is started ? Thanks!

if a solenoid is bad, the indication in the dashboard should not change the gear, you probably have this problem: Console Removal Shifter console removal & switch cleaning, e32 & e34 automatic http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_13.htm
or the cable between shifter and the side of the gear is not correct adjusted or bent. http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3..._transmission/

Some one also know from experience that disabling the shift lock solenoid (92 & newer) will cause the dreaded "Trans Program" fault in the check control. Do you know where exactly to look for to re-solder to make better connection ? Thanks!

I do not know if disconnecting the shift lock causes trans program (my 750 does not have such a solenoid), but you can easily test it by disconnecting. As for the switch, you have to clean it, see pics on my website under OTHER MODELS - E34 - Transmission switch
