I've been tracking that one. It's at $8100 with 2 hours to go.
Bought my 1992 with 150k miles on it for 2x that a few weeks back.

Ended at $13750. Have E31's always been this much cheaper in the winter months? Or has a bubble burst?

It didn't hit the Reserve... Which I'm assuming was north of 17 or 18k if I had to guess.

i'm afraid sure bubble burst in Europe.... as from this year all "oldtimers" must go to annual tech inspection again and are inspected as a "new" car !
In the past it was a primitive inspection , papers, lights and brakes. Now everything , as suspension, steering, rust, water/oil leaks, even CO !
And it must all be oem … I suspect many cars aren't worth anymore the cost to get it approved.
Also more and more citys do not allowe anymore "oldtimers" to be used .
Good old days are gone…. in Europe.
no sorry Ted, just European BS.
I have a regularity rally CS now for 5 years , but can forget it , as it will never pass the new Belgian tech inspection . Made it every year better and better , a reliable car with nice results in rallies. Government sees it different , the less oldtimers, the better.

Except for good old California. It becomes more difficult every cycle (2 years) to pass smog. I think the current cutoff for smog is model year 1975, after that it's perpetual smog test. There's rumor that the cutoff may move up to 1983 model year. Not too long ago California had the 25 year rule which had me looking forward to the day my 8er would turn 25.
1993 850Ci.....18 years & 165,000 miles and counting!
This has been always the case in Germany. To get approved for the historic H plate, they go through the car thoroughly checking every detail. Here it's still allowed to drive them wherever unlike diesel powered cars and with H plate you benefit from paying less tax, 150€ is all you pay yearly.
must you go every year again once you have a historic plate ?
Here it's now between 30 and 35 years : every year
older 35 : 2 years
older 50 : 5 years
problem is of course how much work is involved to get it back oem for tech inspection , and redo it afterwards. A set of wheels is done in a hour…..
I have a welded roll cage , no more allowed, ain't gonne remove it …. also the Intrax suspension is too much welded/changed…..
i understand, but non of my conversion parts are TUV approved i'm afraid.....
Here in PA to get a antique tag all I need to do is pay a one time fee of about $125 once the car is 25yrs old, after that I no longer need any inspection or emissions, also the tag is now good for the life of the car in my ownership.
that WAS also the case in Belgium.
Not anymore....
Other than mine, I've only ever seen two others on the road. I used to see a few show up at the Euro Auto Festival, but none showed up last year. Only reason I didn't enter mine was cuz I figured it would be outclassed by any other E31 that showed up, but turns out I would have been the only one there.
