Hi everyone.
I’m new to this forum. I currently own two 86 CSis, a Bronzit Beige auto and an Alpine White Getrag manual. This post is about the manual, which I intend to restore.
Big question is, what to do about the body kit. Car was delivered new with white bumpers and a full M Technics body kit. I actually don’t like it and am thinking of removing it, any thoughts? Car is on its original TRX wheels at present and looks silly in my view.
Welcome, a picture says more than a thousand words...

You will learn to like the e24 Mtech Body kit for the e24 euro.......lowering the car slightly with some H&R Springs and your choice of period "correct" rims will help
Actually don't like it is the key to yopur question. You are the one who has to look at the car so it doesn't matter what anyone here says. Your car, your taste.

Hey man. Any pictures of the body kit?
Here are a couple of photos. The cover over the rear jacking point is missing.

Those wheels make the car look weird, imo the car could use some spacers to place the wheels a little outward and a refinish to high gloss silver. Or some metric BBS wheels.

A different set of wheels will go a long way, for example:
I agree with an above comment. Those wheels make the body kit look fake. Go 17" BBS and the body kit will probably look fantastic. See my wheel here.

Change of strategy. This car is almost completely rust free - apart from a small section on the rear of the sunroof - it is a factory Getrag 5 speed manual. Its travelled at least 250,000kms, the speedo is broken. Its a good colour combo with Navy full electric Recaros.
Rather than rebuild the six cylinder engine, I have purchased an E60 M5 V10 and a 6 speed gearbox from an E92 M3 which will bolt up. The engine has had the Vanos units deleted new bearings and studs with different cams. Reputedly it has 600hp, 500 would be fine.
The plan is to change the steering to rack and pinion, new cross member and whatever else needs to be done for the installation. Suspension refresh with big brakes and 17” wheels, 8s in front and 9s in the rear. Will need a new tailshaft, query diff ratio, upgrade to a/c and modern infotainment. I may lose the body kit, not much of a fan, otherwise car will will be visually completely stock.
Ill post some engine photos shortly.
okay, now that's a project!!!!! I say go for it, V10 plus 6 speed? What's not to like?????!!!!1
And keep the body kit and new wheels!!!!!

This is going to be awesome. What body kit are you leaning towards as a replacement? Like 80s widebody?
That sounds great, how are you going to contain 500 horses in the shell though? Do document progress as it will be an interesting build to follow.

This is gonna be cool, is it the first E24 to be converted to a V10?

Anything you want to do to the engine while it's out?
That's a lot of power - you might want to see if GI Jonas has any of his "Bomb-proof" diff mounts still available.
Obviously you're going to need more braking and suspension than that car has - which also puts you across wheel selection - going to need/want pretty wide in the rear.
When i was thinkering with S65 in my E30, I got to the point where the best option would be to somehow "install" the E30 body on the top of the M3 chassis. Upgrading the E24 suspension and brakes to match S85 could be very expensive and not very successful job. Good luck with it nevertheless.
Here is the crazy M3 with V10:
