    Low viscosity m20 525i

Can low viscosity cause an oil leak from the head on a m20? I have changed the headgasket and get a leak between cylinder 3 and 4. It leaks out when I drive but doesn’t leak while idling. I have been dealing with this issue for a while and am at my wits end.

Same here, twice, just like your case.

what oil are you using? I would be using 10w40 in cold weather. (below 30 degrees for those in warm climates) and 20w50 for warm weather.

I am using 10w40, and the winters in Oklahoma are usually very cold but it’s been unseasonably warm this winter so maybe I should switch to 20w50

your leak isn't due to viscosity, it should seal regardless
    FWIW 20w is too light
