I have a 2005 BMW x3 3.0i . My shift indicators does not show up on the dashboard when i turn on the key or the car. The abs, Brake, and transmission symbol light up on the dash and I have been going crazy trying to diagnose the problem. I have read that maybe the trans solenoids or Filter and i have changed them and there was no change. I finally got a clue, Under the hood next to the relays ECM and TCM there is a black box with 5 fuses in them 4 (green 30 amp) 1 (yellow 20amp) . The second fuse counting from the right(facing the car) always blows when i replace it. If i replace it my shift indicators show, as soon as i turn the car on it blows. I placed a 40 amp(only one i had left) and all the lights (brake, abs, traction control, transmission) went off and the shift indicators stayed on but only lasted a minute. I researched and on other cars it seems like the problem was the TCM. Its probably going to be expensive so im just trying to get opinions and help that might work. I am not an experienced car person but honestly with this vehicle I have learned so much I had problems and so far have overcome them. I hope I can also fix this one. Btw all of this happened one day I was going maybe 100 mph on i10 and on an exit I took all my problems started the lights came on and when i accelerate it seems weak and i need to press the accelerator much more than usual. The car can barely even go up a slightly more raised ground. However on reverse it is normal. if someone could please at least give their opinion I will greatly appreciate it

The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the electronic modules with the proprietary BMW software. Find a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers at www.bimrs.org.
I would check the shifter assy for broken wires
