Lock nuts for lower steering column

Gents, anyone know the lock nut size on the lower steering column? (1999 z3 2.8)

    Greyed out on realoem.com:

Getting a last round parts order together for the front end refresh

The diagram is incorrect - there's not actually a nut that secures the end of that bolt on the lower steering column. There's just the bolt, and the pinch joint it goes into is threaded for it.

I recently did a front-end service that involved disconnecting the column, and I just cleaned up the bolt and torqued it back into place.

Tip on putting it back together right; I always put a center-punch mark at the split in the u-joint before taking it apart, to make lining it up easier (you'll need to leave the column unlocked to put a socket on the bolt). If the column doesn't readily separate from the u-joint, a wedge driven in the split__with caution__will open it up for you.

You can also see the fastener for the threaded end of the bolt__it stays in place, but I always have used red Loctite when reassembling it (@ 23 Nm).

Thank you, Randy. Makes me feel more confident going into this job
