    Garage paint job

Hello, this is the E30 I bought for 500€.
    83023939_822459764847615_8739556224502071296_n.jpg

it´s the m21d24 turbo-diesel. The engine runs smoothly and looks like it was well taken care of. The car on the other hand, is not so good looking.
I decided to give it a garage paint job but since my garage is very dusty, I decided to paint the doors etc inside of the car to prevent dust from sticking to the fresh paint. As I didn´t want any paint particles to get on my seats and overall interior of the car, I turned the car into a paint box. IMG_1710.jpg IMG_1742.jpg
To humor you, I have made the conversion into a short video : https://youtu.be/koQRPUCARb8

I´m still currently working on the doors, but I will post the after photos when it´s finished.

After some time I finally got to continue on my paint job. Here are some progress photos of the doors. Currently I have 3 doors done and one is currently in the process of sanding etc.

This is drivers door. It was pretty rusty and denty so it needed quite a lot of work. Overall it took me like 3 days to prepare it for sanding and then the painting took like two days cause I wasnt satisfied with the result.

This is rear passenger door. There wasnt as much work on these so Im pretty happy with the outcome.

    Hey there !
Finally getting warmer outside so I´m working on the E30 again. I decided not to work during such cold temperatures cause my health was suffering.. Anyway, finally finished the last door (passenger door) and passenger fender and also front bumper. As per the usual, I´ll post some progress photos down here. Hope you´ll like it !
Now I´ll have to work on the drivers fender, then the rear bumper and then the rest of the car. I might have to turn my garage into a paint box though so we´ll see.
Anyway, here are the progress photos. The door is still not perfect but for the purpose of this car it will do..

Another small update. These times I´m trying to work more on the car but I will only post photos of finished parts so here is the other side of the front bumper.
    naraznik-min (1).jpg
I´m really liking the results for this one to be honest. I also took down the e30 paint box as I´m coming closer to doing the whole body. I have put some doors and a fender inside and currently im trying to isolate the inside well enought that I´ll be able to paint the body correctly. There´s a lot of sanding to come though so it will take some time... However, I only have to finish painting the drivers fender which is already like 60% done and then the rear bumper which is mostly ready for primer already.
Hopefully, I´ll be posting updates in no time !

I also shot a short video update on my project. So here´s the link

Hope the quality will load well, it´s supposed to be 4K. Anyway, I wanted to show how my garage looks at the moment. Different layout for working and for closing it I added the photo at the end of the video so that you guys can see how I store everything.

    Hello there !
I have done the trunk hood already. It´s honestly not the best at the moment but some faults should go away after polishing the body. Still though, uch better than it was before (lots of deep scratches and holes after the spoiler wing...)
    94195388_235125727733261_8006448067769270272_n-min.jpg
So currently I´m finishing rear bumper and sanding down the body. Hopefully, I´ll be finishing up soon !

Yes I´m using rattle cans since I don´t have a paint gun. More precisely, I´m using CAR-REP acryl car paint that´s sold in rattle cans. I originally wanted the car to be delphin metallic but as I didn´t find the correct shade by number at the store and I didn´t want to lose any time by having to pre-order the exact colour, therefore I looked at the coulours they had and I found a really similar one, so I went with that. After seaching for the colour code, I found out it´s called laurusgrau metallic.

That is very impressive finish from cans honestly, good job.

Thanks! Honestly means a lot since this is the first time in my life that I´m doing this kind of work

Anyway, finished the rear bumper so now all I have left to do is finish the body which is already like 1/4 done or so.
Here´s the pic of the rear bumper -
    95470813_222297649059872_2197090017757626368_n-min.jpg

Has some faults but I didn´t really care for this one to be honest since it´s not that important to me at the moment.

I have a few primer, clear coat and correct paint colour cans in my basement, i need to address some minor paint work on my own E30 (some minor clear coat peeling here and there, some small chips etc) and just trying to get around to cleaning her up.

Honestly if you prep it well, the results are pretty good for a rattle can paint job. I have to do some touch-ups on my E34 as well. I mostly used my E30 as learning ground I guess since my E34 is going to be a more important build. However, I have not yet tried to do a small touch-up so I guess I´ll have to learn how to blend in the colour correctly.
Best of luck ! I´d love to see the results when you´re finished !

rattle can paint jobs are ok... not necessarily cheaper though.

I did a rattle can paint job on my truck:

Yeah, it´s not really cheaper than having my own paint mixed and using a paint gun but as I didn´t have the opportunity to use a paint gun and a compressor, I went for rattle can paint job. However, I really find it fun to do paint and body work so I´m considering doing some work on my E34 as well. When I´m finished with the E30 though. I´ll be using a paint gun with a compressor for the hood of the E30 as well since I doubt I could get it right with rattle can. Then we´ll see if I´ll be able to do it nice enough to be willing to work on my E34 (I want that car to be top notch pretty lol)

Coming close to finishing soon hopefully. So I thought I´d post some more progress pictures. This is how the car looks at the moment, currently sanding down the filler. Then I´ll be putting the whole body into primer and sanding it down before paint. Bought a sander so I can work more effectively ! (up till now I did all the work by hand that´s why there are some faults as due to bad sanding)

Yeah they´re pretty neat. I´ve actually bought new wheels for this one yesterday though. Really looking forward to seeing these on the finished car ! :p

Finally got back to working. I predict it would take me like 5 days of work untill finishing the body (hood not done yet at that time). Here are some update pictures, will have more tomorrow I think.
    105573770_573584603585314_368131006746670810_n-min.jpg105897491_1199255883766794_4690954792292455560_n-min.jpg
Which leaves me with the roof and the back fenders undone.
I also worked on my lights. I´m painting the outside black because I didn´t like the old original.
    106190590_753178925485667_1951074018236514786_n-min.jpg106000256_314651836235771_4445901379068745686_n-min.jpg106008926_2047040932106409_4661508486003599035_n-min.jpg
Of course I had to sand it down, fill in the bumps and then use a spray filler and then paint lol
