Hi Guys
My Z4 2003 SMG auto/maual developed a faulty starter motor , so took it out and replaced the brushes , bench tested and all ok, put it back in and all ok
reason for the post is :
before when ever i pressed the open button on key fob the z4 doors would open along with this pump sound that continued for about 5 seconds, and i had to press the brake pedal to start car, now no pump sound and i dont have to press brake pedal to start anymore ?
also the glove compartment between the 2 seats never unlocked and i never worried about it, now it unlocks when doors are not locked so great, but as said cant understand whats happened,
car starts great better than ever, starter has much more speed as before was sluggish then stopped completely , brushes were worn out.
but just worried about the different procedure
no wires have been left off so cant understand it, also what is that pumping sound anyway that i used to have ?
have taken car on 5 mile journey and all ok
look forward to any reply's thank you
John

Your electrical system (computers) may, over time, developed program issues.
I'm guessing you disconnected the battery to do the starter? If so, perhaps your electrical systems reset itself to factory when you reconnected the battery.
The pumping sound is the fuel pump bringing the system up to pressure...
I have a manual so I have to press down on clutch pedal for starter to engage....
