Hello,
I purchased, and have tried to install the Avin 8.8 inch Android unit in my 2012 E93 M3 with CIC. (https://avinusa.com/8-8-multimedia-n...1-e63-e64.html)
I am running into a problem. The Avin intercepts the signals from the Stereo, send it to the unit, and then I guess back down, with a harness. Meaning, the harness has a receptacle for the cars harness, and then another plug for the stereo, in the shape of a "Y" or more like a "T." For the life of me, once the connections are made, I am unable to bolt the stereo back into the car, because the connector interfers with the unit being pushed all the way back in. There is no room for my hands to move the cable when pushing the stereo back in, and the harness is too short to stuff the connectors somewhere in a void behind the dash. I have even tried to use some wire to pull the connector out of the way and above the stereo unit to make room, but that didn't work either.
Anyone here install the Avin unit, preferably in an E93 M3 with CIC, and was able to make it fit? How?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Talk to Avin support and see what they say to help you fit it.
The link you have provided goes to the 5 series unit so are you sure you have the correct uni?
Cheers, Dennis!
Thanks for that. Ooooops, seems I provided an incorrect link. Here is the correct link. https://avinusa.com/8-8-multimedia-n...1-e92-e93.html
Avin support has been pretty helpful, but there is a language barrier for sure, which makes it a little difficult, but I have emailed them.
Hi WiredBMW,
A language barrier?! the 'Avin' brand is USA based and I think the person to contact is someone called 'Steve'. The other person was 'Tommy'. Take a look at the E46 fanatics forum's electronics subsection where there's numerous threads about Avin products over the years and those with the current versions and their feedback
https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=1266183
The Forum sub section (you can search this for the various Avin threads)

Good luck !
Cheers, Dennis!
They may be "based" in the US, but I am fairly certain the units are made in China or Taiwan, and support is out of there. The wording of emails leaves lots to be desired. For example:
"If you want to connect the AUX of your original handcart. Just disconnect the main harness audio connection, use one end of the audio output cable to connect the main harness AUX-OUT. The other end is connected to the original car armrest AUX.
Note: After the main harness AUX-IN is disconnected, it is covered with tape for insulation treatment.
Hope could help you.
Thanks for your patience."
Not horrible, but clearly not California based I don't think.
I will head over to the E46 forum, and check it out, Thanks for the suggestion.
