So I installed a brand new heater control valve on my e24, as the original one was busted. Pricey item! Unfortunately, a few weeks later it seems like the valve could not withstand the hot water that circulates through it. Result: the plastic on the valve became deformed until it began leaking. Guess I'm on to a new valve for a second try...
Has anyone here ever seen this??
Normal one...

My "fatty" installed. This is taken from the front of the car looking at the firewall, where the valve is installed. Check out what happened to the bottom part. Inflated!!

Stating the part was expensive you must have purchased a BMW part locally. In the USA BMW has a two year replacement warranty on parts, hopefully, BMW Brazil offers the same. Good luck.
Hi Roger,
Actually I bought it from FCP Euro. Yes, it was a BMW part. Good news is that FCP has a replacement guarantee. Guess I'm going to have to take them up on that!
For future reference, would you know where I could find the OEM equivalent for this part (64111373191)? I looked around and all I could find was the BMW original part at $360ish.
Thanks!
I follow several Forums, there are aftermarket available, however, most fail in a short period of use. Member have removed parts from the non BMW part and repaired the original BMW heater valve. I haven't heard of a "Chubby" failure before you posting.
Do searches on the this forum, there's great info on this subject and much more.
Check forum http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/index.php as well.
Good Luck
Roger
Will do. Thank you, Roger. Appreciate your help!
By the looks of it, the leak appears coming from a spot higher than the circled area on your pic, and dripping down to the hose below.

Upon further investigation, you were right. I disassembled the part and the problem was that coolant was coming up through the diaphragm. I noticed that the screws that hold the top part of the piece together were pretty loose too. Re-assembled and re-tighten the screws a bit more. Still testing but doesn't seem to leak anymore. Will continue to observe.
Thanks!
