1996 BMW 318ti Ford Engine Swap

I would like to do an 1996 BMW 318ti Ford engine swap I was thinking about putting a 4.6 liter V8, but I don't know if it would fit. If it won't fit, I would appreciate some recommendations for what other small Ford V8 engines would fit. I plan on setting it up with old school carburetor and points ,basically no computers in the engine setup. Thanks.

Look in the engine swap subforum. People have done it with 302 but I don’t know about the smaller engine.

    A modular 4.6 won't fit. Too wide

So, if a modular 4.6 won't fit because of being too wide, then what small Ford V8 will fit without modifying the frame or body

Did you bother searching? I did a 5.0 swap in my car. It's been covered extensively by several forum members including myself.
Windsor 302 is the most common. Someone did a 351w. A coyote has been done as well.

People have put the Coyote 5.0 into E36. Is the modular 4.6 even wider?

    I have been told that
the modular 4.6 is too wide and will not fit.

Ok. I am not a Ford guy. The older push rod motors are narrower so they should be easier.

How about a 4.6 vs Coyote?
