Reason for sale, I have driven a '00 540/6 for the past 14 years and it has been a great car. I planned to add an e39 M5 to my stable and sell the 540. This fall my 540 started giving me some trouble staying reliable and I looked and bought the Oxford Green car about a day too early as my 540 finally got sorted. I have the green car garaged and am afraid to drive it here in the Northeast.
I am trying to see if someone would appreciate an exquisite example of a 540 Sport so I can continue my quest for an M5. This car is absolutely perfect.

previous owner was an owner operator of a RR and Bentley full service shop for over 30 years in SoCal. Needless to say he babied the car immensely.

Timing Chains and Guides replaced? I couldn't see paying anywhere near your asking unless this job has been completed. Need that peace of mind, otherwise this car is gorgeous in just about every way, I wish you good luck with your sale.

Are those M5 front and rear bumper covers? Is the paint original?

No timing chain guides the oil is analyzed and the mileage is low. Guy I bought from was a fastidious owner of a full service Rolls and Bentley shop who took amazing care of his customer cars and his love which was this car.

@nealf What's your reasonable price for the car? Frankly, it's been been 625 days since you listed it and $20k is way over-priced. You may be waiting another two years for the right buyer for this specific example. As others have chimed in, can you please post the maintenance history? PPI completed? What are the date codes on tires?
